The break-through came with Look Sharp! (1988), an album that was full of feel-good rock songs that are good at hearing layers. Per played in the Swedish-speaking rock band Gyllene Tider and Marie was active as a solo artist. The two band members, singer Marie Fredriksson and guitarist/singer Per Gessle, were in their own country for celebrities when they started in 1986 with Roxette. With nearly 50 million sold sound carriers is Roxette the second most successful musical export from Sweden, of course behind the unapproachable ABBA.
